KPV is a tripeptide segment corresponding to the C-terminal sequence (Lys-Pro-Val) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It is evaluated in cell-based assays for its anti-inflammatory signal transduction mechanisms, specifically its capacity to inhibit NF-kappaB activation and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine expression.
